A Bloody Mary with a twist!
Sunny Mary Mix
You’ve had a Bloody Mary… but have you had a Sunny Mary? This gorgeous brunch cocktail mix features canned yellow tomatoes (available at Zelli) and could not be any easier to make!
1 large minced shallot
1 celery stalk and more for garnish
Juice of 1 Lemon and lemon slices for garnish
⅓ c. olive brine and olives for garnish
1 Tbsp Worcestershire
1 Tbsp Kosher salt
1 Tbsp grated horseradish
1 Tbsp minced ginger (optional)
1-3 Tbsp hot sauce of choice (I used Opera Sauce)
Glass rimming salt of choice (celery salt, Tajin, or other Bloody Mary salt mix)
Combine tomatoes, shallot, celery, lemon juice, olive brine, Worcestershire sauce, salt, horseradish, ginger, and hot sauce in a blender. Blend until completely smooth. Taste and add additional salt/hot sauce to your liking.
Rub slice of lemon around rim of glass and dip into rimming salt. Fill glass with ice and then add 1 ½ oz. vodka.
Top off with Sunny Mary mix.
Add a celery stalk (preferably a leafy one) and use to mix.
Add any other garnishes you like! You can also add additional hot sauce if you prefer your Marys spicier, like I do! Serve!
This recipe is SUPER versatile! Don’t like vodka? Gin works great here. The ginger works beautifully with the natural sweetness of the yellow tomatoes, but if you don’t love it, feel free to omit it! You can increase or decrease the measurements on almost any ingredient on your list to your taste. Don’t be afraid to play around!
